We are looking for a savvy Data Quality & Cataloguing Analyst to join our growing team of data platform experts. The hire will be responsible for aiding in our data maturity journey. The ideal candidate is an experienced data analyst and data wrangler who enjoys optimizing data systems and processes.

Description:
The Data Quality & Cataloguing Analyst will support our software developers, database architects, data engineers and data scientists on data initiatives and will ensure optimal organization and quality of data. They must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems, and products. The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of solving complex problems, is driven to enable users to succeed, and can build effective stakeholder relationships. Reporting into the Data Platform Manager, the role requires self-motivated, dedicated and responsible individual with the ability to perform well under pressure.

Essential Skills & Experience:
Create and maintain data dictionaries and catalogs.
Interface with business stakeholders and leadership to understand and define data needs.
Analysis data quality via data profiling and build long term metrics with data profiling scorecards.
Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.
Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, etc.
Work with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data needs.
Ensure data separated, accessible, and secure in accordance with relevant governance and compliance requirements.
Build data views and reports to expose and drive data insights.
Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems.

Education and Experience:
5+ years of experience in a Data Analyst role.
Experience using the following software/tools:
Experience with data profiling and quality tools: Collibra, Informatica Data Quality/Analyst, Talend, etc.
Experience with data tools: Dremio (primary), Databricks, Spark, etc.
Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including MSSQL, Postgres, MongoDB, TimescaleDB, etc.
Experience with creation of Data Dictionaries/Catalogues
Experience creating reports in Power BI (primary), Tableau, etc.
Familiarity with data warehouse technologies: RedShift, SQL DW, Snowflake
Familiarity with Master Data Management principles.
Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
Experience building and optimizing data pipelines and curated data queries.
Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management.
A successful history of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large, disconnected datasets.
Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and data lakes.

As we work across several channels, projects, and conflicting priorities, being able to navigate and juggle multiple things on the go is required as well as being proactive enough to anticipate the next steps and actions.
Good communication skills, written and oral, for example ensuring sales agents are kept informed of any delays in turning around pricing requests, or outlining the rationale behind a decision not to approve credit for a customer.
Analytical mindset, demonstrates ability to problem solve and create practical solutions to overcome problems and mitigate risks.
Comfortable working in a target-driven and fast-changing environment, and able to respond to changing business needs
Excellent attention to detail
Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Outlook and strong Excel skills
Excellent analytical, organization and time management skills, with the ability to maintain a strict level of attention to detail
Ability to work well within a team environment and demonstrate a vested interest in team goals and objectives.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships
Self-motivated with the desire to consistently improve performance and gain further knowledge
Ability to meet deadlines, learn quickly and demonstrate effective problem solving and follow-up skills
